Are you ready for the 50th gathering of the sons and daughters (truth be told, the great grandchildren & their progeny) of Marida & Mary Hendricks! On June 7th, we can meet at our cabin at George L. Smith State Park for a sing-a-long, gab session, storytelling (of the old times, new times, and the times in between), perusal of old documents and photos, and whatever we as a family might like to do that we cannot get done in that hour after the Reunion business meeting and dinner on Sunday June 8th. This is 50 years of reunions and I miss the family ties that bind us through blood and marriage to an era when a handshake meant something, when the smile of recognition on an elder's face was worth more than gold.

From the rolling hills of North Carolina, a small group of settlers travelled the difficult road to the west bank of the Ogeechee River in Georgia to start life fresh after the bloody turmoil of the revolution. One was Daniel Hendricks who had married his fellow soldier's daughter, Mary Bowen. Travelling in concert with his friend and father-in-law and his mother-in-law, they settled near Nevil's Creek Primitive Baptist Church and were destined to become the ancestors in two generations of Marida Hendricks.
Marida married Mary Durden and indirectly founded the Hendricks Reunion at Upper Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Bulloch County. This is their story, for it was the sons and daughters of Marida and Mary who felt compelled to meet with their children and their children's children once a year to celebrate their good fortune of having such ancestors and to carry on the history of the families born to them.
